  • Since December 2009, Alberto Remírez is CEO of Hamak Hotels.

  • He has a deep understanding of the hotel industry andspecifically the luxury market. He has worked in hospitality for 20 years and has hands on experience in all phases a hotel goes through from conception,building, creating a unique guest experience and management.

  • In 2000, Alberto joined Prohotel International as Vice President of Business Development, where he oversaw new developments.
  • An instrumental figure in the creation and development of Ikal del Mar Hotel and Hotel Esencia on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, he also had a critical role with new properties, including concept development, financial planning, construction, pre opening, and operations.
  • Alberto is also co owner of former Holiday Inn East hotel in Mexico City where he oversaw daily operations from 1995 to 2007. In this time, his aggressive sales strategies resulted in increased hotel occupancy from 35% to 82% and more than tripled hotel revenues. He was involved in every aspect of the Holiday Inn East including food and beverage, reservations, promotions and created and implemented successful employee motivational programs.
  • Alberto has held positions in Mexico City with Mexico International Business S.A de C.V. as Chief Executive Officer and Industrias Nacobre S.A. de C.V. as Productivity and Export Manager.
  • Alberto received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a Master of Business Administration from Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresas IPADE, also in Mexico City.
  • Alberto lives in Cancun, Mexico and is fluent in Spanish and English.

  • Since December of 2009, Federico Carstens is Managing Director at Hamak Hotels, where he oversees administration and the finance department. He has acritical role with new properties including financial planning.
  • His strategic thinking and strong understanding of the hotel business is very much appreciated by Hamak’s clients and stakeholders.
  • In 2006 Federico Carstens joined Prohotel International as Chief Financial Officer.
  • He was responsible for day to day financial operations and contract negotiations and also worked in new business development.
  • Carstens has more than 15 years of solid experience in corporate finance for a wide range of clients including public hotel companies, private owner operators, federal governments and Wall Street investment banks.
  • He also has an impressive track record in Mergers & Acquisitions helping clients divest their hotels. Some of his success cases are Le Meridien Cancun, Ikal del Mar, Real Turismo, Hotel Palmilla and Grupo SIDEK-SITUR
  • Before joining Prohotel International, Carstens served as Managing Director of Corporate Finance at IXE Grupo Financiero in Mexico City, one of the country’s leading banks now property of Banorte.
  • He has held positions with Santander Investments and InverMexico as Vice President of Project Finance.
  • Carstens received a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
albertoNicolás Domínguez Operations Managing Director

  • Since December 2009, Nicolás Domínguez is the Managing Director overseeing operations at Hamak Hotels.
  • He has over 18 years of management experience in the travel industry, gained from numerous outposts around the world, including Spain, Dubai, Central America and Greece.
  • His creativity and leadership make him one of the key figures in creating unique hotel experiences for guests and unique hotel concepts for hotel owners.
  • Nicolás has the ability to mix a sophisticated global taste with local values and culture.
  • His priority is to achieve quality throughout all phases of hotel development and management.
  • Domínguez’s positive outlook has helped him create a sense of pride among his staff, instilling a ‘Can Do’ attitude which is reflected in their interactions and treatment of their guests.
  • He joined Prohotel International as General Manager at Ikal de Mar boutique resort, from 2001 to mid 2006, and Hotel Esencia, from 2006 to mid 2008. He then became in charge of operations at Prohotel International, consulting various hotel operations in Marbella and Barcelona, Spain, from 2008 until November 2009.
  • His specialties include food and beverage, product development, advertising, marketing and international contract negotiations. In his years at Ikal del Mar, Domínguez was instrumental in Ikal’s brand development, which has resonated worldwide.
  • He is highly praised for incorporating the area’s culture and creating a unique concept into the fabric of the hotels.
  • Before joining Prohotel International, Domínguez was General Manager of Hotel Atitlan in Panajachel, Guatemala. During this time, he successfully positioned the hotel in the upscale market using an aggressive marketing campaign.
  • As a result, the hotel was upgraded from a four-star to a deluxe category.
  • Domínguez also improved the hotel’s operational standards and image to meet the requirements of an upscale, deluxe hotel.
  • Domínguez has traveled the world during his professional career. He worked at Petaluma Restaurant in Mexico City as New Products Manager / Concept Development Specialist.
  • He has also worked in Santorini, Greece at the Vedema Hotel as Operations Manager and at Accor Group’s Novotel Hotel in Dubai, UAE as Food and Beverage Manager.
  • After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from UCLA, Domínguez joined the Accor Group in the Operations department of Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Domínguez is a destination specialist, focusing on Latin America and the South Pacific.
  • He is a member of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives.

  • As a private consultant in the field, he has provided professional services to several international consulting firms: Radian International (USA), Tetra Tech (USA), PRC EMInc (USA), AG (Spain), ERM (UK), and others.
  • Between 1998 and 2000 he was Vice President of Environmental Resources Management in Argentina.
  • Between 2000 and 2006 he served as chairman of Deloitte & Touche Argentina Environmental, a Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu company.
  • Between 2008 and 2014, he became Vice President for Prohotel International (USA) in South America, and owner of several hotels, including Ikal del Mar and Esencia, both in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
  • Since 2007, CEO of Ikal Winery & Lodge (Argentina).
  • In the academic field, he has been a professor at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina Catholic University, the University of Belgrano and the School of Business at the University of San Andrés, having published more than ten books in his field.

albertoGabriela Saucedo Longoria Sales Manager Latin America

  • Hospitality is at Gabriela’s core, her priority is walking the talk and delivering the highest quality possible in all her interactions, being personal or professional.
  • Her service attitude and great experience enrich her work as Sales and Marketing Manager at Hamak since June of 2017, where she was the Sales & Marketing Manager for Chablé Resort & Spa in its opening stage, and, she continues positioning and promoting it in México, and now will be involved in promoting Cartesiano Hotel in Puebla and Amomoxtli Boutique Hotel in Tepoztlan.
  • Gabriela creates the sales and marketing strategy and develops the sales network, becoming more and more appreciated in the Hospitality Industry for her warmth and congruence, thus creating long lasting business relationships that help her position new properties even in challenging markets.
  • efore joining Hamak, she held a Sales Manager position in opening hotels abroad. She had great success positioning the properties in different markets.

Karina Fuentes Director of International Sales

  • Since September 2016 Karina is Director of International Sales of Hamak Hotels
  • Her love of travel and passion to learn has been key in Karina’s career in the hospitality industry. 
  • She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from México’s National University, 
  • Karina started her own journey, which led her to have many positions and roles in the industry, in Mexico and abroad, taking her as far a Eleuthera or Varadero.
  • In 2003 she became part of the operations team at legendary Ikal del Mar luxury boutique hotel in Rivera Maya, as part of Prohotel International. She stayed with the company for 10 years as Operations Manager Assistant, working with executives to improve products and services in the properties managed by Prohotel International 
  • She joined Prohotel International Sales team North American as Regional Sales Manager in 2008. 
  • Karina has proven to be instrumental in negotiating contracts with key accounts, exploring new markets and with aptitude to develop collaborative relations with industry partners for product commercialization. 
  • She has her home in Toronto, where she also led the creation of concept, image, branding and operation of a new all natural skin care brand with a brick and mortar location on Queen West.


albertoAbigail Rivera Director of Hotel Operations

  • The elegant and graceful Abigail Rivera has been involved in hospitality for over 20 years.
  • She has contributed to the success of several projects at Hamak Hotels since 2001 while participating in other luxury projects, like Palmasola in Punta Mita, Mexico, where she was the General Manager of this luxury villa destination. She crafted dream vacations that her guests relish to this day.
  • Her deep and insider experience whiting the industry made her part of the  corporate team at LHPG in Greece, leading the season openings of some of their SLH and Relais & Châteaux properties in Santorini, Mykonos and Paros, being in charge of  managing Kirini Hotel after a full renovation in 2009.
  • With Hamak Hotels, Abigail started as Operations Manager at the iconic Ikal del Mar, she was the General Manager at Hotel Esencia and she has led and supported openings of some Hamak Hotels, focusing in procedures, operation and hotel software adaptation.
  • Her natural and powerful leadership skills and sensibility make her the ideal ambassador to permeate the Hamak philosophy: attention to detail and making guests’ experiences a priority and an art.
